BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – An overnight standoff that began when a man fired shots at a repo crew has ended with multiple people in custody, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
The incident occurred in the 15600 block of Stuart Road, found not far from Highway 181 and Loop 1604 in Southeast Bexar County.
Officials said the standoff began around 7 p.m. Wednesday when a suspect’s van was being towed away. The man ran after the tow truck, knocked on the window and fired shots across the hood three or four times, deputies said.
A neighbor who witnessed the event said the tow truck dropped the van and the suspect drove it back to his front yard and that’s when deputies arrived.
A BCSO spokeswoman said the suspect barricaded himself inside the home with several others already inside.
Deputies said they fired tear gas into the home around 4 a.m. and flushed out everyone. Officials now have five people in custody, including the original suspect, deputies said.
No injuries have been reported so far and no damage was caused to any vehicles. Deputies did seize two weapons from inside the home.
The BCSO said they will be sorting out the charges at a later time.
